About:

Py-CU is Champaign Urbana's Python User Group. We are a bunch of people who want to get together to learn, teach, share and discuss all things related to the Python programming language.  We occasionally hold workshops and tutorials and have two types of regular events:

  • Monthly general meetings are for presentations and group discussions
  • Weekly hack/project sessions are for teaching/learning/discussing anything tech (every Tuesday, 7 - 9 PM,  at the Makerspace)

Py-CU was founded in February 2013 and is run by Elizabeth, Liz, and Nadia. Elizabeth and Liz have both studied with GSLIS (Graduate School of Library and Information Science) at UIUC. Nadia studied computer science at UIUC and is a local software developer.

Py-CU is a subgroup of Makerspace

On October 18, 2014 Py-CU attended Heartland Maker Fest

Quirky story:

Py-CU meets in Makerspace where all variety of makers are working, as a result, at one meeting Elizabeth was able to sew her pants back together while she was wearing them.
