Rosie Dyer served the community as a cosmetologist for 33 years. Mrs. Dyer has made many contributions to her profession and to the community. She served as president of the Twin City Cosmetologists and the Alpha Chi Sorority and has been a member of the Twin City Cosmetologists since it was founded in October 1960. She hosted a fundraiser for the AIDS benefit for Frances Nelson Health Center and for the Adopt Douglass Park Association. She has volunteered at Covenant Medical Center for the past 18 years and she is a member of the Concerned Citizens for a Better Neighborhood. She also served on the committee for the
Champaign Douglass Branch Library - Frederick Douglass Memorial. Mrs. Dyer is a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and has served on the Senior Usher Board, as Director of the Junior Ushers and Pacers and on the committee for Christian Education.
She was a charter member of the National Council of Negro Women, Champaign County section.
