Sharial Mynyon Anderson is the daughter of Laverne Anderson Powell and Joseph Anderson. She attended Centennial High School where she was the President of the African-American Club and Vice President of Future Teachers of America. She was a member of the Student Advisory Board, the Weighted Grades, Graduation Committee, Upward Bound, Delteens, the Young Democrats, and the Principal's Scholars Program. She attended the University of Illinois. As an active member of the Church of the Living God, Sharial sang in the Inspirational Choir, Teen Choir, was active in Sunday school, Bible Study, Teen Bible Study, and the Youth Ministries of her church. She was the recipient of the PACE, Rotary, and Chamber of Commerce Academic awards. Her escort at the 27th annual Gamma Upsilon Psi Debutante ball was Kenny Bradley II. Her uncle is Walter Swan.
