Lake Erie Waterkeeper is a 501c3 whose mission is “To preserve, protect, and improve the watersheds, waters, and fish of Lake Erie, the Great Lakes’ warmest, shallowest, most biologically productive lake, and to increase public awareness through collaboration, education and advocacy.”
Lake Erie Waterkeeper serves the Lake Erie watershed from the headwaters of the Maumee River in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the eastern end of Lake Erie.
Lake Erie has programs for the Maumee River and tribs in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for Western Lake Erie and tribs in Toledo, Ohio and for the Central basin in Cleveland, Ohio. Lake Erie Waterkeeper is also the sponsor for the economically based Lake Erie Improvement Association.
Lake Erie Waterkeeper is a fully licensed program of the International Waterkeeper Alliance.
