Since 1959, Toledo Opera has fulfilled their mission by producing professional performances of opera and musical theater. Each season, which runs from fall to spring, Toledo Opera produces two main-stage operas and a gala concert, attended by over 5,000 patrons.
The Mission of Toledo Opera is to enhance the cultural fabric of the region by creating opera experiences that celebrate, both in the theater and beyond its walls, what is unique to opera: dramatic, passionate stories expressed through glorious music and the powerful voices of classically trained singers.
2012 /2013 Season
Toledo Opera's 2012/2013 Season includes La bohème (October 5 & 7, 2012), Don Giovanni (February 15 & 17, 2013), and the annual Opera Gala (April 12 & 14, 2013), all performed at the Valentine Theatre in downtown Toledo. There is a pre-opera talk one hour before each performance in the Grand Lobby of the Valentine Theatre.
Opera Extra talks were added for the 2012/2013 Season taking place at the Registry Bistro at 5:30PM, with talks given by stage director Michael Capasso (October 2, 2012), bass-baritone Sean Cooper (January 29, 2013), and guest conductor Sara Jobin (April 9, 2013). Opera Extra talks are free and open to the public, offering additional insight into the world of opera from world-class experts.
